Fallen Arches

Underneath a rainbow
The colours fall down flat
Perhaps it is the rain
That makes them all go splat!

Rainbow

imagine the rainbow being
the dark tunnel
you've been stuck in for years

the lighthouse on the horizon,
the beam
that gets brighter as it nears

get soaked in the rain,
feel the sun in your heart,
let go of all your fears.

Portrait of Lily Rainbow

Written by Gail DeBole

Lily Rainbow, a summertime freak,
Was as bold as a mouse is meek.
    After caught in the rain,
She lived up to her name
With a gold pot tattooed on her cheek.

Thanks, Judy

Bluebirds can't fly over the rainbow,
And I'll tell you something more;
The only avian species that can
Is the Andean Condor.

A chased rainbow is never caught.
Somehow, a rainbow's never "here".
The closer you get to the pot o'gold,
The rainbow moves or even disappears.

If I could fly over the rainbow,
My heart would sing;
But I can't fly over the rainbow,
'Cause I've got no damn wings.

Yes, we're all seeking rainbows.
In that, there's nothing wrong;
But every day I can say,
"I'm glad Judy Garland sang the song."

A Rainbow Day

Today,
The sun is crisp and bright
Yet does not warm the day.
29 degrees and no higher.
We rush about, layered from
Head to toe...

Today, winter is our foe.
I am dressed in rainbow colors,
Purple hat, red coat, pink sweat
Shirt, yellow blouse, black mittens,
Brown boots, black pants...
Hey, in spite of the cold,
People are smiling at me...
Wonder why?

I Looked Over

Sassy Irish lassie that is clear But I think too much green beer Teasing with the stripped clover All the fun and games are over Awoke to lose her charms, Oh Dear

Sneeze Louise Tries To Ride a Rainbow

I usually don't talk about rainbows.
I'd rather talk about farmers or crows.

But if you pierce a rainbow, does it not bleed?
Into one color, for every intention, desire, and need?

Brothers and sisters and cousins and nephews,
I care not how descends your Muse.

Listen to the string meant only for you.
The angels bless your every "kerchoo."

Paddy

There was an old leprechaun named Paddy,
Who carried his gold in a hand caddy.
There was just not a lot,
To store inside a pot.
That rainbow-less leprechaun named Paddy!

Whisper

When a whisper goes in ear
when someone is near
and she is dear
one wants to hear

a feeling shared in shear
rolling down of tear
the precious gift to loose fear
and trust which is crystal clear

it happens in rare
needs a pair
unwrapping of layer
and a prayer

Rainbow Man

The Rainbow Man

There was a man, who built a massive kaleidoscope,
I think he was a borderline communist looking for
equality amongst colours…then he walked in to it.
He was so enthralled by his finding that, yes indeed
all are different but very equal, even white and black
had an important place in the scale of shades.

He didn’t come out to eat thought he could eat hues
instead, which according to him, in his colour induced?
delirium, tasted as marmalade on fresh loaf; so he was
left in his heaven and forgotten. Years later when he
was found they discovered, a pink skeleton wrapped in
non conformity.

Butterfly Rainbow Bottoms

Butterfly Rainbow Bottoms is my neighbor’s new dog.
Can you guess the ages of their three children?
If you said four, six and eight, you are right.

Butterfly Rainbow Bottoms' name has been adjusted to BRB
Can you guess why?
If you guessed daddy embarrassment, you are right.

Rainbow Bones

Burt and Ernie dwell on Sesame Street,
deep in a closet but living rent free.
When their skeletons escaped
they painted rainbows all day.
Uncle Sam slapped a big tax on their rings.

Rainbow Faerie and Her Tiger

Rainbow faerie brought her guardian to the picnic.
Everyone had been eager to speak with her.
Her guardian was a large tiger.
She was eager to show him off.
He was a beauty, and so tender-hearted and good!

Most elves, brownies and faeries kept their distance.
She complained to her mother about the lack of companionship.
Did you take your tiger with you? Her mother asked.
Oh, no. Do you think that was it?
Her mother said to her father “you are right. Pretty, but….”

Poker Face In the Rainbow Room

With rainbow and stout, and an Irish cold,
my vivid recollection — when to fold.
The smirk on green lips - a whip.
Sure knowledge of luck in grip,
as leprechaun laid down his hand of gold.

Will My Cat Reach Rainbow Bridge

When my well-fed cat dies will he go to heaven?
Will he make it in cat years to fifty-seven?
Or eighty-six or one hundred and five?
Just what is keeping this fat sassy tom alive?
Shark has a kill room around the back.
Has killed varmints from here to Hackensack.
Will he ever reach the Rainbow Bridge?
He annihilated my mean Aunt Midge.
Sure some do not think it was Shark my cat.
But he’s wearing her rings, so what about that?

Lights Out

I have followed
many a rainbow;
as with that illusive
dream have tried
to hold on~ so, one
morning, as the
sun was rising, a beam
I planned to capture--
thinking some light
a thing everyone should
own...my ultimate plan
like Peter's shadow sown
I finalized my scheme
with a Wendy Seam:

But light seeped out
the bottles glass...
and the bars of a cage
just as easy to pass...
trying to grasp
far too fast; exhausted
I attempted to sleep:
came visions of fireflies
and stars endless deep~
giving it my best
I gave out a shout,
but nothing I did or said
could put those blinking
dang lights
out....

A Rainbow

I have followed many a rainbow...
all light, for me, having special appeal;
thinking one day to finally ride one~such a slide
would be totally unreal: feeling saturated with
divine color...absorbing brightness, warmth and
treasury zeal; knowing at the end my faithful
pot glistening – the devil hollering out, his usual:
Stand up!
Did in
a heel!
