Hungry Tummy Growling Loudly

We need nourishment and oxygen or our body dies. My tummy is always telling me he’s hungry by growling at me no matter if I ate or not. Sometimes he is so loud he embarrasses me around people, they'll stop and stare. When is this madness going to ever stop? I don't really eat that much. I eat like a bird. The scales constantly keep lying to me and my clothes keep shrinking in the wash. I’m tired of wearing a girdle to keep my tummy in it just overflows over the top. I want to live a happy life without having to worry what I eat and belly dance.

anything that eats
breath has one thing in common
expelling of waste

What Does the Fox Say

crafty little fox
well-schooled in vernacular
speaks by sleight of tongue

I hereby dedicate this fox phrase -- “A-hee-aee ha-hee!” in a sleightly altered accent- “A-hee- aha -hee!” to link the crafty fox with the crux of haiku – the aha. And, just an "oh by the way" - go Ylvis! (Norway’s comedy duo) "Fox" has topped the charts at You Tube. It has replaced Norway's A-ha band’s "Take on Me" No. 1 hit from way back in 1985.

Celtic Warriors and Joycean Drunks

Watching the futbol match between the national teams of Ireland and Slovakia. I managed to purchase a cheap seat and I am sitting up in the nosebleed section. We drank and cheered as the game wore on. The Irish national team emerged victorious 2-1. Suddenly I remembered my mother’s maiden name: McClay. A surge of ethnic pride surged through my being. I was hugging other fools in the stands. We emerged victorious in a qualifying match. I was hugging Celtic warriors and Joycean drunks alike in our victory

Moment of triumph
the true blood line emerges
ethnic memory
stirs up unwavering pride
party like an Irish Wake

Alone With My Thoughts

I'm alone with my thoughts at the moment, wondering how to keep them all like ducks in a row inside my head! Argh! They come a mile a minute, raging like a furious flood, doing somersaults! My brain, scrambled eggs.

                                                                 feeling so confused
                                                       can't keep my thoughts together
                                                                 what is happening!?

Joy Ride

My buddy who was quite oafish and wasn't to keen
decided to drive his old clunker of a car
that didn't have any seats to be seen.
So with great effort he sticks his head out the drivers window while in a squat
and with a toothless grin he yells, "Watch this!"
Speeding at 70 in a 40 he flies over a large speed bump going at least 15 feet
   up in the air!

  Out the window he flew
  like a ball bouncing along
  luckily no splat!

December Rain

December in the central California mountains
Pine scented air tickles my cheek
Hinting at the peace to be found here
We incautiously wish for the sound of rain
Missing the calm lullaby of Mother Earth

Song became a roar
Our poor tent could not withstand
Ill-timed wish granting

Just a Moment

Just a moment...he jumped in ours. The camera said, “Whoa! What just happened?” Another man? Could his heart stand… He snapped...what was in front of his eyes. Had he a momentary blink. He rub-a-dub-dubs his eyes. And I...I laugh, after all, we are in Vegas, baby.
