An Aging Poet

For poetry, I'll need to see
Let the battle of switches begin
From the wall switch to the light
"Which one is it?" never ends!

An aging poet, past my prime
My memory now is not acute
In truth it has been in decline
Ever since I popped the chute!

What's next, will I forget my pants?
So many lapses, cause me to fret
A date, a word,a meal, a hat
Who knows what next, I might..........?

Aging

As you get older,
Deny the reality
That everything sags!

Aging Woes

Forgetful moments, hair thinning,
Memories fading, ears ringing,
Hands wrinkled, boobs drooping,
Knees weak, words looping,
Silver top, hot flushing,
Bladder weakness, loo rushing,
Bones tired, sleeping less,
Couldn’t care, such a mess,
Eyes blurring, tummy tucks,
Getting older, really sucks.

Aging

Going down on his knees, the old man
Proposed to his petite , pretty Ann
“I have got two questions, to ask” , said he
“First is whether you will marry me“…
‘ Yup’, said the girl, ‘what is the next?’ ..
’ Up, will you get me ?’, he winked through his specs.

‘About old age, the signs are three’,
Said another old one with glee,
“The first one is loss of memory….
The other two … , ‘I forgot, sorry’ ”.

“Let’s go upstairs and make love”, said she
“Hun, choose one, can’t do both” , quipped he.

My Thoughts On Aging

Just yesterday morning while shaving my face,
I looked in the mirror in total dismay;
my once youthful looks somehow time did erase,
and there stood a stranger with age on display.

My once raven hair has now turned a dull white,
and under my eyes there are bags that outrage;
my chicken skin neck is now looking affright;
I hate to admit it, I’m showing my age.

Not sure when it happened but gives me a pause;
the aging in life is still nature’s decree.
But better the aging and live with the cause,
than pushing up daisies beneath an oak tree.

Aging Gracefully

Sally found her hair was turning gray Looking younger was what she did pray Alas, hair kept graying And her heart kept praying Even though her mane was on display She wasn’t too keen on the new hair dye Still decided to give it a try Weeks later, out came roots Her hair was in cahoots Glad she had a touch up to apply Now that Sally has new hair color Her hubby often gives a holler He gets a brand new gal One he likes to call pal Because she doesn’t spend his last dollar

Aging (Sonnet)

Of youth, I dare not say ado, yet wait
upon the willing heart that I be spared
that visit standing at the Pearly Gates,
I bide my time, not hurried to go there.

For on this Earth I tarry not to die,
believing soul and body to unite,
hence, the tongue in silence gives no cry,
with my Lord I stand in glorious light.

Grim Reaper, oh dreaded one, be not proud
for many, not I alone, must now fight
to keep our youth in the maddening crowd,
and know that never we should fear the night.

Alas, 'tis not from aging I dispair
but from telling mirror I must beware.

Aging

Aging is not for the faint of heart
smile lines bags and cellulite sags
Your butt begins to fall apart
As your mind matures wisdom hacks.

Aging

As the fog shrouds everything with damp
Settles into the eaves
Nature huddles in dens and nests
Droplets cling to all leaves

Foggy now in the thought process
Pathways slow just a bit
Not happy about this aging
What's the future in it?

Aging Wife

as aged-wine's flavor does grow
many girdles graced your cask
as short shelf life of apples
your rotting core stinks

"Aging"

As the age's number increases
So do the aches and pains;
So does the number of losses
With less and less gains.

When ready for some wisdom,
As the foolish years wane,
So then comes the time
For senility of the brain.

Yes, Aging is a charmer
Only if along the way,
We maintain as our armor
A sense of humour every day!

Joy, Aging Is Thy Name

The news
    controls my views
  Vials of pills
    mountains of bills

  Lack of sleep
    counting sheep
  Overeating
    bowels bleeding

  Tooth decay
    more every day
  Hair's turned white
    Say 'goodnight!'

The Angst of Aging

I never thought much about growing old
While challenging the idea of “getting” old
A well-aged wine or cheese has merit
A well-aged man has wrinkles and nose hair

Aging

Problems with my joints
Problems with insomnia
Problems with my memory
Problems with my concentration
Problems with my energy levels
Problems with my taste buds
Problems with desire

Getting old is one big problem
One problem after another
This problem isn’t for the faint of heart
Well, at least I am still alive
And able to write bad poetry!!
