Love Me

Leave me alone you beautified 6itch ;
Oh ghastly and ghoulish playpen of a witch.
Vases of roses are covering your deeds;
Eloquent verses describe your sick needs.

Many come calling but none ever leave;
Even my dumb heart now wants a reprieve.

January

Just where have the weeks gone
Another year has whizzed past
No New Years resolution, I'd only break it
Unless it’s to meet George Clooney
Ah fiddlesticks he’s married now!
Romance is off the cards
Yeah, but a girl can dream!

NB I have never made a New Year's Resolution, this is just a standing joke with my husband

Squirrels

Superbly agile and acrobatic creatures.
Quirky zigzag moves and mannerisms.
Unique techniques for stealing seeds and nuts.
Incredibly strong front incisors that keep growing.
Really smart, mischievous and very entertaining.
Ready to rob and tackle any bird feeder, even squirrel proof.
Extremely resilient during harsh winters.
Loud chirping and chattering when near by.
Sometimes they are white, but mostly grey, red or brown.

The Bard's Wind - Acrostrain

Wind that I pass poisons air with one blow
It stinks to the moon, stays 'til the morrow
Nonchalant, nearly blue, frown on my brow
Don't hold it; Farting is such sweet sorrow. 1

Notes:
1.	A play on Shakespeare's famous line, Romeo and Juliet: Act 2, Scene 2.

2.	While I do not wish to offend the fine sensibilities of our more delicate poets, most of us are familiar with the The Bard’s propensity to include references to farting in his plays. To name a few:
Comedy of Errors: Scene I; Two Gentlemen of Verona: Scene IV; and Henry IV: Part I

That Four Letter Word, Love

Look in your eyes unveils a smoldering ember that could make Gibraltar crumble.
One in a million heart that magically kindles fire without matches. Nothing...
Ventured, nothing gained in this rewarding game of love; a four letter word that
Emanates such sweet ecstasy. And no, I don't mean the drug.

The Birds and the Bees "closely-Knit Trio"

The Birds and the Bees

A “Closely-Knit” Trio

The macho
He-man
Entered the
Bar to
Inspect the local female population
Red-
Dressed,
Sultry “ladies” sat
And sipped wine
Not giving him one glance
Drawing closer
To a trio of
High-heeled
Enticing “women”
Big Joe tried to
Engage one in conversation
Evasively she lit a cigar and said,
“Sorry, but our threesome suits us just fine”

Crazy, Yes

Crazy is defined by the crazy things you do
Really crazy things are just too crazy, too
A crazy person laughs when no one is around
Zealous crazy people are too busy to be found
Yes, crazy is as crazy does, who really can define?

Your definition of crazy is well kept in your mind.
Even when you’re normal, crazy still remains
Some keep crazy in their hearts, to look like they’re still sane.

I Love Candy Mia

I crave sticky butter mint balls

Liquorice allsorts from the candy stalls
Orange smarties, my favourite treat
Violet crumbles I just love to eat
English toffees for me to masticate

Chocolate drops make me salivate
Aniseed balls would paint my tongue red
Nougat or should I choose fruit gums instead
Dime bars and snickers too much temptation
Yikes! my waistline spread’s caused aggravation!

The Bear

there once was a bear
who lived in belair
he owned a red hen
who made eggs for his kin
then one time like most bears do
the bear got hungery
and ate the red hen
and her last eggs of ten
with a gulp and a swallow
down went the hen
but wait..
now there was no hen to lay eggs for his kin.

Cookies

Cookies are addictive!
OoOoH! Here's one to snatch!
Okay...where's the chocolate chips?
Kraving too many of these treats
I want some now! But...I might get beeefy...
Every bite is mouthwatering, soft and crisp
Should I take another cookie?

Black Friday

Bargains galore!
Lots of people out shopping
All looking for that special gift
Carrier bags bulging
Keep an eye on the spending

Frazzled tempers
Riots break out
I got the LAST one
Don’t ever want to go shopping again
All I want is to go home
Yipee ... only 365 days till we do it all over again!!!

Boo

H aunting continues within the dilapidated old house on the hill

A long winding tree lined path may be followed to it's entrance

U ntil last season the house lay quiet and still

N ow one can see strange lights and hear faint voices coming from the manor

T omorrow is "All Hallow's Eve" and the town's children have decided to climb the hill
       following the treacherous path

I nnocence and curiosity go hand and hand within the young

N o one was prepared for what waited for the children beyond the iron gates

G hostly ghouls and goblins anxious to take their place!

Reflections: Midlife Crisis

P aranoia permeates, etching itself into your fractured face,
A cacophony of constant pressure; life remains a stressful race,
N othing to hope for, no positives like promotion in the workplace,
I nability to love, relationships lift anchor and set sail without chase,

Leo, An Astrology Acrostic

Leo, an Astrology Acrostic
    by Amy Swanson

Loyal friend who'll laugh with you, the sun rules their playful heart;
Engagingly eclectic, they'll give all they have; forgive them if they seem a little bossy.
Outgoing with majestic charm, they'll walk with you until the very end.

*Inspired by Danielle White's astrology acrostic contest* -- I had to get in on the fun! :)

Smile

Sense of humour, elevating our spirits
Musing over the simple things in life, rejoicing at what we find
Imagination stimulated, childlike, seeing the wonders in life
Light heartedness, laughing at one’s self!
Everything as it is meant to be, smiling, enjoying, the gift of life

Bidet

But for that crazy, ill-conceived bidet,
I'd say using a loo is serious business.
Darn it, think of a sudden April shower
Encroaching upon your pretty posterior,
Tickling it, the nearest thing to heaven!

Buzzing Bee

My ears are buzzing
Carefully I listen
Keep still I say
Entangled is a bee
Napping
ZAP!
I chuckle to myself
Ending the life of the bee.
